MMO's Thoughts/Opinions Empty
PostSubject: MMO's Thoughts/Opinions   MMO's Thoughts/Opinions EmptyThu Jun 07, 2012 11:00 pm

Might as well kick this off with an interesting topic.

What do you think of MMO's?

Hate them? Love them? Like the path up to the max level but hate the raiding etc. or love the raiding and hate the initial steps to get up there?

Discuss.

WoW is the main one, but I only ever played the trials, and was never that impressed with it. I found myself doing quests but never really knowing or caring why, which made it a case of just going and collecting stuff or beating people up. Which I could do in non-MMO's without a time limit.

I have only ever got into one MMO long enough to reach the level cap (DCUO). I think the reason was that I knew the world I was in and could relate to the characters, plus they released it free.
I immediately started on my Batman like character, as a controller. I liked how I would be briefed on the missions by the iconic characters and then had to interact with the villains (mostly beat them up) in the instances.
My only downside to DCUO was that there was no real closure to the main story line unless you went and worked on your characters post-leveling, which in itself was a pain.

I'm tempted to try out Star Wars the old republic Level 15 trial when they activate it, as its another case where I know the world and a lot of the areas will be familiar.

I duunno, I guess I like them, but only if I can drag some friends along for the ride.

Only MMO's I've played (payed) were WoW and Fallen Earth, though the latter went downhill fast. I liked WoW, through. Defenately not a huge fan of the mindless grinding that one has to do, but raiding was neat, even a few quests were.

I've played my fair share of free-ish ones; Maplestory Mabinogi, Flyff, things like that. Usually end up leaving for the same reason I left WoW, which is not many fun people overall. That and, if you don't really like the gimmick, it can get old fast.

I hope to have better luck with that upcoming TERA one though, with the whole action/fighter/MMO thing going on. Maybe I won't need friends to make the whole thing interdasting.

I loved WoW, but found that after level 70...It got VERY repetative.
Go here
Kill this
Go back
Kill That
Go back again
So on...

But still enjoyed the multiplay side of it all...Playing with loads of other people at the same time was excellent Smile
Loved raids and big group quests but I usually ended up soloing most of the game by myself anyway so may as well play Skyrim haha!

I played runescape and ill admit it, only thing about mmo's is that its unfriendly to new players if everyones all ready a high level. either way i probably wouldnt consider adding a clan extension into a mmo without atleast 15 willing people to play it

I can remember playing runescape, dunno whether my account would still be there though. Don't think I like it enough to revive it anyway.
